Phew....

Hans and I are in the process of buying our first home, and boy o boy is it tough. How do people expect you to know what to do, what to look for, when to make an offer, how much do you offer? We found this house that was exactly the style of house we were looking for, it is a Mid Century Modern home done by Ralph Haver a well known architect here in the Phoenix area. It was what we were waiting for after searching online for homes we decided we would keep looking and hopefully one would come on the market, and well it did and it just so happens it was in our price range yippeee or wait maybe gasp because this is the biggest purchase we will ever make, are we ready for that? Is this "the one"? So we ended up making an offer come to find out that although it had only been on the market for 2 days there were 2 other offers on the table. So begins the bidding war! No well not exactly turns out we just ended up offering what they were asking and our offer was accepted. Now comes the tricky part inspections, walk throughs, all these things that we as first time home buyers know nothing about. So inspection day comes and there is a 50 page booklet of information about everything from the roof to the countertops, everything, and everything including a list of repairs yikes. I don't know what these types of things cost to repair, since the house was a short sale there is no negotiating the price, so what do we do, do we accept knowing that we got a good deal, or that we found the ideal style of home we were looking for which just so happens to be an old house with lots of repairs needed. Luckily no major repairs but still repairs and all I see is $$$$$$ adding up.  Oh the joys of becoming a homeowner. I will continue to post photos as we move along, hopefully we will be closing on April 26th.
